Local Closures and Cancellations




This list will be continuously updated with closures and cancellations related to COVID 19 (Coronavirus):


Restaurants and Businesses:

Facilities:

  • Ark-Tex Council of Governments is temporarily closing their offices. More information at https://atcog.org/ 
  • Mission Texarkana is closing at the close of business on March 19, 2020 and will remain closed through March 27, 2020. 
  • Wadley Hospital has implemented a visitor restriction of 1 visitor per patient until further notice.
  • Texas DMV Texarkana Office will serve drive-thru only until March 27th. 
  • Bowie County jail has suspended all visitation until further notice. 
  • New Boston City Hall is closed to all visitors.  Please call and make an appointment.
  • Texarkana Public Library is closed to the public until further notice. The drive-thru will remain open 
  • All Social Security Administration offices are closed to the public until further notice.
  • Beginning March 17th, the lobby at the T-Line Transit Center at 1402 Texas Blvd. will have limited hours from 9:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. until further notice.
  • Grady T. Wallace Softball Complex closed and play suspended until March 30th, 2020
  • Grady T. Wallace Soccer Complex closed and play suspended until March 30th, 2020
  • William Karrh Park – FASA Softball closed and play suspended until March 30th, 2020
  • Spring Lake Park; Swanger Complex- Texarkana Texas Dixie Baseball closed and play suspended until March 30th, 2020
  • Spring Lake Park; Monte Field closed and play suspended until March 30th, 2020
  • Collins Senior Center will be closed beginning Wednesday, March 18th, 2020 until further notice. Seniors Citizen Services will offer hot packaged meal pick up for seniors 60 and over from the parking lot at Collins Senior Center, 3000 Texas Boulevard from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Wednesday, March 18, 2020 until further notice. 
  • Southwest Center will be closed beginning Wednesday, March 18th, 2020 until further notice. 
  • No in-person payments will be accepted  at City of Texarkana, Texas Offices beginning Wednesday, March 18th, 2020 until further notice. 
  • Perot Theatre bookings suspended until March 12th
  • AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE RELATED TO COVID 19 (CORONAVIRUS), Texarkana, Texas citizens seeking a birth certificate can apply on line at: www.vitalchek.com. An additional $9.00 non-refundable fee is charged for VitalChek services. Walk-in applicants are extremely limited. If you have an emergency situation, please contact Vital Statistics staff at (903) 798.3911. 
  • CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System: For the safety and health of our patients, our care providers, you, and our community, we are limiting visitation and are screening all visitors to help reduce the risk and spread of infections among our patients, Associates, and care providers. This approach is in line with the scientific evidence regarding the spread of infectious diseases, and is meant not to alarm anyone, but to protect us all.

Churches:

  • First Baptist Church Texarkana (Moores Lane) has moved services online until further notice. 
  • Williams Memorial First United Methodist Church has moved services online until further notice.

Events:

  • Scout-O-Rama has been cancelled. 
  • Texarkana USA Chamber of Commerce Business2Business Breakfast at Wyndham on March 20, 2020 is cancelled.
  • Ribbon Cutting at Bailey, Galyen & Soyars on April 7, 2020 is cancelled. 
  • Better Business Bureau 12th Annual Torch Awards has been cancelled. 
  • Morris Sheppard Texarkana FCU’s 2020 Annual Meeting on March 19th will be postponed and rescheduled at a later date.
  • Texarkana Urban Transit/ T-LINE Board Meeting for Thursday, March 19th, 2020 is cancelled.
  • Texas A&M University athletic events suspended until March 30th
  • University Interscholastic League events have been suspended until March 29

Schools Closed:


Per Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, Arkansas schools will be closed until April, 17, 2020.

Per Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Texas schools will be closed until April 3  2020.

Please check with individual private schools and daycares for information about closures and changes to normal operation. 

  • Texarkana College- closed until March 30th, then instruction will be online 
  • Texas A&M University- Texarkana- will begin online instruction on March 23rd
  • University of Arkansas Hope- Texarkana closed until March 29, 2020
