NEWS FLASH!

As a part of the City of Texarkana, Texas' continual effort to improve communication with its citizens, a new optional e-mail communication system is being implemented. Citizens will have an opportunity to register to receive press releases, information regarding community events and road closures, and a City newsletter which is being created. The information will be transmitted via e-mail and citizens may choose to 'opt into' one, several, or all of the categories and may unsubscribe at any time.

E-mail address information provided during registration will be used solely for this purpose and will not be shared with any other party/parties.

The communication system is currently in Beta testing mode so minor modifications may be made to improve the quality of this service.

SECONDS COUNT IN AN EMERGENCY!

The Cities of Texarkana, Bowie County, and Miller County have instituted the CodeRED Emergency Notification System - an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to call all or targeted areas of the city or county in case of an emergency that requires immediate action (such as a boil-water notice, missing child, or evacuation notices). The system is capable of dialing 60,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers our recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.

THIS SYSTEM WILL ONLY BE USED FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES.
